A new type of stability shoe will be released soon. Watch this uber-plush model land.
The Transcend, a supportive, super-cushioned running shoe, is coming in 2014. Look for Brooks’ new midsole foam. It’s more cushiony than BioMoGo DNA, the midsole material in the brand’s Pure Project line, and reportedly adapts responsively to each stride.
The Transcend features a curved heel to promote a natural stride, and an outsole designed for a glide-like heel-to-toe transition and stride. Unlike traditional stability shoes that include dense medial posts (along the inside of your arches), this model has “guide rails,” or supportive plates along your foot. Alongside traditional stability shoes, the Transcend is considered a “support” or “stability” shoe, ideal for over-pronators.
Jon Teipen, Brooks Footwear Product Line Manager, explained Brooks’ inspiration for this shoe. They encountered runners who craved “Float,” in contrast to the feel of Pure Project shoes like the Pure Flow, Cadence, and Connect, he said in a press release. “Transcend is the first shoe that addresses this, driven by new technology that delivers a smooth ride with support that kicks in only when you need it, acting as a safety net that helps your body stay in a balanced position throughout the run,” Teipen said.
