What’s in a pack? 17-liters of storage for long run or hike essentials. And a whistle.
Best for: Long runs, trail running and racing, hiking, day pack
Weight: 10 oz. (medium)
The Hoka One One Evo Race Pack is deceptively light given its large, 17-liter storage capacity. It is fully adjustable with multiple straps and velcro adjustment areas throughout out the shoulders and waist area, which I found to be quite comfortable. My initial impression is that there really isn’t much jostling around or movement while running if you’ve got it adjusted snugly. It is constructed out of tent-like materials, so it is light and waterproof.
Main Back Compartment:
The large zipped compartment is huge — you could throw in an entire extra outfit worth of clothes and still have room to spare. The interior compartment is very well organized with different areas to place your various items. While a bladder isn’t included, there is actually a compartment to put one in the main storage area.
Waist and Shoulder Strap Compartments:
A really nice feature about this pack is that almost all the smaller compartments use a magnet closure which is super easy to open and close — no messing around with finicky zippers or velcro. A large water bottle compartment is included (minus the bottles) on both the right and left waist area which sit just above the hips. I was able to put a 16-ounce bottle with fluids into each compartment comfortably. There are a total of four smaller magnet-closure compartments for food, gels, keys, ID, and phone, between the shoulder straps and waist, making this a great option for runners who’ll be running for several hours or competing in an ultra type of event.
Overall the Evo Race Pack fits very well (it comes in three sizes, based on height) and has tons of space to store anything you could need on a longer run or hike. It even includes a whistle.
