The BRC/adidas trio of Mattie Suver, Alisha Williams and Brianne Nelson packed a punch at last Saturday’s Gate River Run/USA 15k Championships. Suver, who is in the final preparation stages for the World Half Marathon Championships in Denmark next week, led the scoring with her 7th place finish of 50:40 in a talent-laden field led by Shalane Flanagan, who ultimately set the American 15k Record that day of 47:00.
She was followed closely by Alisha Williams, who placed 9th among women in 50:43. The Team Championship scored a team’s top 3, so wrapping up the score was Brianne Nelson in 18th place with 51:41, a stellar race following a fall and winter’s worth of injury.
Narrowly out of the scoring was Wendy Thomas, who used the race as a workout leading up to the Boston Marathon. She took 19th place in 51:57. Thomas will join Suver at the World Half Champs.
We won’t talk about Shannon Payne’s race but she too represented BRC/adidas. She is writing this and assures you that there are no hard feelings regarding this comment.
Topping off the BRC/adidas women was Adrian Chouinard, coming off of nearly a year’s worth of setbacks, who used the race as a workout for her upcoming marathon in Copenhagen this May and finished in 56:50.
