Congratulations to BRC/adidas runner Christie Foster in winning the Colorado Runner Magazine Runner of the Year award. The award is based on the year long series that the magazine puts on and by Christie’s high placings and winning key events she was the victor with 320 points. Christie has not had a long running back ground like many in the state at her level. She did not start running till her sophomore year in college as she was a competitive figure skater. Her first race ended in a DNF due to heat stroke but as she says “I didn’t let that deter me too much”. Her big goal in 2014 is to hit the Olympic Trials Marathon time. With the guidance of her ADP (American Distance Project) coach Scott Simmonds many feel like this is a very reasonable goal. Good luck to Christie in all of her upcoming races.
