Nella’s Speedwork 11-6-13

Last night we had a great time at our Nella’s Speedwork.  Our runners also produced, some great times.  Every 6-8 weeks, there is a 1 mile time trial to gauge improvement.  It is stressed that this does not need to be an all out effort, but rather an effort level that easy to reproduce for every time trial.  For some this may be slightly faster or as fast as 5k effort.  We usually do a long warm-up and cooldown before and after to make it not some seem so draining.  Last night saw a few major PR’s and some overall improvement from the group.  Every week we also take a group picture with a funny theme.  Last week it was the “sideways thumb” from Gladiator.  This week, Coach Danny had a sore throat and couldn’t speak very loud, so this week’s theme was “What did you say?”   Notable performances came from: Josh who Broke six minutes for the first time in years, Deb who broke eleven minutes for the first time ever, and Kristen who dropped her time to 8:06, down 49 seconds in the last two time trials! Until next week speedsters!
