We all woke up feeling a bit relieved to find a blue, sunny sky on Sunday morning. After successive days of snowfall, we finally had a break. In anticipation of the snow, our Sunday Morning Trail Group tackled another flatter, local trail to get more mileage in. The nice thing about this part of the Highline Canal is that the Parks and Rec trucks drive through to create tracks for visitors. However, even with the groomed grooves, the snowy terrain was tricky as we ran through.
In these conditions, groomed or not, distances just “feel” longer. Today’s 10-miler certainly felt like a snow-packed half marathon. In the winter months, we take what the conditions give us, hope for the best and push on through.
