Today was our first official winter weather trail run of the season. Dedication, perseverance, camaraderie and the pure love for running are the reasons that we all arrived at Mt. Falcon in the frigid 25-degree weather this morning. Trail conditions were generally good, with variable snow pack in some sections. We felt the buffer of the snow with each step. With the exception of a few hikers and bikers, the trail was mostly bare.
As we headed up Castle Trail, a couple of deer crossed our path. Each time we curved around a switchback, so did they. It’s as if we were running with them. There is a certain type of serenity that is felt when running trails in the winter. This is why we do this. This is why we are here.
