This Sunday’s run was at Mt. Falcon. The recent light dusting of snow brought us the enjoyment of some wonderful views. We parked at the lower east lot and started climbing. If you ever need a challenging climb in a short distance, visit Mt. Falcon. In fact, some call it the Devil’s Trail, as it climbs an average of 666 feet per mile over the first three miles.
From the trailhead at the East lot, you can take the Turkey Trot Trail, which is for hikers only. This route offers some welcome shade in the warmer months, relief from mountain bikers and is also a little more gradual in climbing when compared to the Castle Trail, which takes you straight up! If you continue to the tower on the top of Mt Falcon, you can complete a very challenging yet rewarding 8-mile out and back.
