Brooks Running just dished out their newest update for 2014 with the Ravenna 5. These guys are not just your more common, cosmetic update but rather a game changer when it comes to the Guidance category of footwear.
One of the biggest changes to the Ravenna 5 was the introduction of the BioMoGo DNA in the midsole, which is different from the more traditional drop-in DNA Gel, made popular in the Pure Project. Basically what you have now with the Ravenna 5 is a more seamless midsole and more consistent cushioning system. This construction of the shoe also allows for less glue during the construction process, which allowed the Ravenna to go on a little diet this spring.
Secondly, we have the introduction of Brook’s wishbone configuration (Pictured Below) through the outsole, near the midfoot, made popular in their Launch. What this allows is full ground contact throughout the course of the gait cycle and for a much faster feel.
Lastly, we have an adjustable saddle wrapping from heel to midfoot, which has allowed Brooks to do away with some unnecessary stitching and overlays. This configuration has also allowed the Ravenna to lose some lbs.
All in all, we have our first great update from Brooks in 2014. We had a good shoe in 2013; now feast your eyes on a great one. Brooks has some innovative stuff hitting this year, more specifically on 2/1 so keep your eyes peeled and don’t forget to Run Happy!
