Be involved & support the 2014 Boston Marathon with the Boston Marathon World Run App for iPhone & Android!
Hot off the press from Runner’s World magazine:
The app is based on a simple idea: to expand the marathon experience to those who couldn’t run it.
“We realized back in April that the interest in participating in the 2014 race would be unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” T.K. Skenderian, marketing and sponsorship manager for the B.A.A., told Runner’s World Newswire. “Our roads are only so wide, and our qualifying standards remain difficult to attain.”
The app is designed to allow runners, regardless of ability or location, to get involved in the 2014 race.
“We wanted to allow runners of any ability the chance to get involved, regardless of where they lived – and in doing so, cross a finish line of their own,” Skenderian said.
Within the app, runners will be able to join groups, pledge a distance, share photos, and interact with current Boston Marathon elite athletes as well as past champions.
“I think our map feature is so cool,” Skenderian said. “You can upload a photo or video from your run, and it goes right to the map. By the end of the day on April 21, we hope to see pins all across the world.”
