Starting at the Greater Boston Running Company-Newton, this route takes you along the famous Newton Hills of the Boston Marathon course.
This 4 mile loop will give you a small taster of the Boston Marathon course. The moderately difficult loop first heads west on Beacon Street, away from downtown Newton. It passes the Newton Cemetery at the 1 mile marker, before turning north and enjoying a slight downhill on Chestnut Street. Just after two miles, you’ll reach Commonwealth Avenue, and begin running a slice of the famed Newton Hills on the Boston Marathon course. As you approach the three mile marker, you’ll see the statue of the famous Johnny Kelly. Almost immediately following the statue, you’ll climb nearly 50 feet in less than half a mile. Once on top of the hill, you’ll reach Centre Street, and head south, back towards the Greater Boston Running Company in Newton Centre.
