Meet Steve, assistant manager at New Jersey Running Company – Hoboken, who was hired in 2012.
“I never ran regularly until I began working marathon expos for the Running Company in 2012,” Steve says. “The sense of anticipation and enthusiasm of the runners leading into a big event was inspiring. I ran my first half marathon last fall, have participated in a few 5ks since and I’m currently training for the Trenton Half in November.”
Favorite aspect of working at this store: “Helping someone find the right gear means discussing their goals, habits, injuries and so on. It’s one of the few retail environments that actually encourages you to make genuine connections with people.”
Local running tips: “Running along Frank Sinatra Drive at sunrise is an excellent reminder of why you chose to live here.”
Fun facts: “I was a three-year starter for the St. Michael’s College Men’s Rugby Team. I’m a very proud uncle of eight nieces and nephews. I’m far more concerned with my post-race feast than my pre-race meal.”
Favorite running gear: “I love my Garmin FR10 and Saucony Kinvaras.”
