Who else has race fever lately? I have total race fever. I can’t help it. It is the fall, it is beautiful out and my Twitter feed is full of race after race after race. Unfortunately, I am a little late to the party, which means races are full, they just don’t work for me location wise, or the be all end all it is just too pricey.
Last week, one of my new favorite Twitter ladies mentioned a race in Northern NJ, the North Jersey Half Marathon to be specific. It is taking place Saturday October 19 at 8:30 located at Greenview Park in Pequannock, NJ.
I immediately knew I did not want to pass it up, but my wallet was not feeling it. What drew me to the race?
- a Northern NJ race with foliage – Yes please
- a flat course with all right turns – Right up my alley
- A finisher’s medal and long sleeve tech shirt – Aren’t those the best?
- a magnet for the back of your car – YAY
- A NYC Marathon Qualifier – Sure, I am not qualifying any time soon but hey I will take it.
It was pretty much all I could do from running to the computer and registering this instant! Ok and here is the real clincher that we have all been waiting for! A DISCOUNT!!!! I am always looking for a deal on a race, but it seems like you have to register early on to actually take advantage of this. Luckily the wonderful people at the North Jersey Half are celebrating the fall with us with a discount code.
When you register use code “Buckler13″ to get $15 off.
This makes running a half marathon go from $70 to $55, with less than two weeks to go you really cannot beat that! I know I know a lot of you all are my NYC buddies but honestly it is Northern NJ it is just so close how can you not!
Not feeling up to a half? Apparently there is also a relay, which can be oh so much fun!
Other cool things to note:
- the race goes around friendly neighborhoods with wide streets
- there will be a chance to hit water stops 7 times
- Girl Scouts dressed up for Halloween will be cheering you on and handing out water (unknown fact I was a girl scout for 13 years)
- You can dress up too!
Finally, and what I love about many races, it is for a really good cause!
