Meet Michael Anis, sales associate at Westfield Running Company, who joined our team in 2012.
Michael started running when he was a freshman at Edison High School in Edison, NJ. As a junior, he converted from soccer to cross country, and was a collegiate XC and track athlete. He still competes today in races, with an impressive range from 800m to 50k. Arguably, his best distance is 5 miles.
Favorite aspect of working at Westfield Running Company: Helping high school track and cross country runners with their trainers and spikes.
Local running tips: “Run as much rolling terrain as you can find. Avoid high traffic roads. Wear reflective gear early in the morning and as the sun is setting.”
Fun facts: All of Michael’s PBs are post-collegiate — and some have come past age 30! He is the 2012 USATF-New Jersey Long Distance Running Grand Prix Overall Individual Champion and finished 131st at the 2010 Boston Marathon (running 2:36.35). Plus, he’s the proud owner of a 1966 Plymouth Fury III.

Favorite running shoe: New Balance MT110 and Saucony Grid Type A5
