Meet Steve Philips, Run This Town Coach & sales associate, who joined our team in 2012
Steve started running cross country and track in middle school in his hometown of Cranford, NJ. He continued his running career collegiately at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, focusing on the 1500m and 3000m Steeplechase. He ran his first marathon in May and will continue to improve on that distance.
Favorite aspect of working at Westfield Running Company: He enjoys working with his lovely sister Shannan and helping new runners find the perfect pair of shoes!
Any tips for training/runners in that area: Its always important to come in and get fit for the right pair of shoes, want to prevent injuries as much as possible! Hydration is also very important, make sure you are drinking plenty of water before, during, and after every run.
Favorite running shoe: Saucony Kinvara and Brooks Launch
Go-to training essential: His Garmin 610 GPS watch. “I love knowing just how far I’ve run and what my current mile pace is. Its an essential running accessory for anyone training for a marathon!”
Fun fact: Currently has season tickets to the New York Red Bulls and is a huge soccer fan.
