OK all you history buffs out there. On this day 110 years ago two brothers from Ohio changed the world. Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully flew their new invention — the airplane — on a beach in Kitty Hawk, NC. The flight traveled 120 feet and lasted 12 seconds. . . and everything seemed possible.
This is just one example of the great American spirit of ingenuity and engineering. Some 60 years later, University of Oregon Coach Bob Bowerman started tinkering with his wife’s waffle iron and created lighter and faster running shoes that would be the start of Nike, the company that would bring us great running shoe innovations such as NikeAir, AirMax and most recently Fly Knit.
