The Road Runner April 2014 Social Calendar!

Another Monument Avenue 10K is in the books and that means you probably fall into two camps:

1. I didn’t run because of ______. (“Training didn’t go as well as planned”, “it was raining that morning”, “I had no idea why everyone in Richmond has been running so much in the last few months”.) But now I am PUMPED to see what happens next in the Richmond running scene!

2. I CONQUERED Monument and now I am PUMPED to see what happens next in the Richmond running scene.

For us here at Road Runner, we know that the Monument 10K is not the end, but yet the beginning of the running season! Today we will give you some big dates on our calendar where we hope to see you! If you know of a big event that is missing from this list, let us know and we will be sure to be there.

April 2014

MTRSaturday April 5th, 8AM North Bank Trailhead, Pump House Road - Come join Mark Guzzi for the rapidly growing Monthly Trail Run as we introduce new runners to the wonderful trail system around the James River. Previous attendees have compared witnessing Guzzi’s infectious 8AM energy to receiving a B12 shot. The only requirement for the run is the ability to run 6-7 miles at 10:00/mile on the roads. Not sure if you can handle the pace? We will make sure that no one gets left behind and will have multiple regroup points to keep everyone together.

Monday, April 7th, 6PM, Road Runner Running Store – Our Monument Monday Training Runs are officially wrapped up for the year, but our Monday group runs continue! Distances range from 3-5 miles, with multiple pace groups. After the run, come inside for stretching and good times with the group!

Wednesday, April 9th, 6PM, Road Runner Running Store – Mid-week “medium distance” training run for The RRRC Spring Marathon Training Team runners training for the Boston Marathon. We will have two routes, a 4-mile option and an 8-mile option. You don’t need to be a member of the SMTT to come to the run, in fact we get many runners that are training for shorter events such as 5ks and 10Ks who come out. Similar to the Monday runs, paces will vary!

Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th, Va War Memorial – The 3rd Annual Va War Memorial Run/Walk to Remember packet pick-up is on Friday and 5K Run/Walk is on Saturday. This is a great opportunity to support the Va War Memorial, which educates the Richmond area and beyond on the sacrifices of our armed forces. In addition, you can use your fitness gained from this year’s 10K to run a fast, fun 5K on a course that features views of the James River, the Richmond skyline, and Hollywood Cemetery. After the run, stick around the memorial and take in some of the history.

Monday, April 14th, 6PM, Road Runner Running Store – Monday Fun Run! Distances range from 3-5 miles, with multiple pace groups. After the run, come inside for stretching and good times with the group!

Wednesday, April 16th, 6PM, Road Runner Running Store – Mid-week “medium distance” training run for The RRRC Spring Marathon Training Team runners training for the Boston Marathon. We will have two routes, a 4-mile option and an 8-mile option. You don’t need to be a member of the SMTT to come to the run, in fact we get many runners that are training for shorter events such as 5ks and 10Ks who come out. Similar to the Monday runs, paces will vary!

Monday, April 21st, 6PM, Road Runner Running Store – After-Easter Fun Run with NIKE! Come celebrate Spring with us and Nike as we try out the brand new Nike Free, and be on the lookout for Easter eggs, Peeps, and maybe even an appearance by the Easter Bunny himself!

Sunday, April 27th, MAKE IT A DOUBLE with the Carytown 10k, Hardywood 4-Miler, and Road Runner Running Store! – 8AM, Carytown – The RRRC Carytown 10K! Our “hometown” 10K, which is a RRRC Grand Prix event. This year we expect there to be close to 1,000 runners on the flat, fast 10K course that starts and ends at Cary Court. Afterwards, come join us for great deals in store AND THEN rest up for the second event of that day… 4PM, Hardywood Brewery – The Hardywood Twilight 4-Miler! “The block party with a 4-mile cover charge!” No timing, just a fun, social run followed by some phenomenal brew from the Hardywood Park Craft Brewery team! Runners who complete both events will receive a limited edition Make It A Double Pint Glass!
